Another good win for Lytham extending the fine run of form, though not quite as fluent a performance as the previous week. A number of key players absent, and perhaps a little over-confidence, having their effects.
Lytham started brightly enough with some early pressure which was rewarded when Joe (H) headed in a fine goal from a corner (1-0). Wyre were not without their own forages forward and on a couple of occasions opened up the home defence to threaten the early lead. This was shown to good effect with a neat equaliser after a lack of concentration at the back let them through again, although Will was unfortunate not to keep it out for a 2nd time when his parry fell to the unmarked Wyre player (1-1).
The lead was restored shortly after however following some good work wide on the right from Joel, eventually finding Josh who held off the challenges of two defenders to slot it round the keeper (2-1). Joe was working his socks off up field and he was rewarded with a 2nd goal to extend the lead when a poor kick from the keeper found him unmarked and he made no mistake(3-1).
By now the Lytham defence had settled and taken control and Wyre rarely made much ground. The victory was sealed when Jonny got his 2nd in two games, knocking in a high corner from Joe (W) which fell in front of him (4-1).
So with the area around the ball mostly crowded with players this wasn't the best of passing games for the lads but they made the best of it and added another three points to the tally. Well done all, a win that lifts Lytham up to joint 6th in the league Table.
